What Is Nano Banana 2.1?

Nano Banana 2.1 is Google's image generation and editing model, released on October 6, 2026 as an update to Nano Banana 2 (Gemini 3.1 Flash Image). Google describes it as the fast, cost-efficient counterpart to Nano Banana Pro, with gains in visual quality, prompt adherence, character consistency across turns and text rendering.

It takes a text prompt and up to 14 reference images and produces images at 1K, 2K or 4K. ComfyUI Web runs it in the cloud inside Studio, so there is nothing to install.

Nano Banana 2.1 vs Nano Banana 2

The two models take the same kind of input and offer the same three resolutions on ComfyUI Web, so the practical differences are quality and cost. Google lists 2.1 as an update with better visual quality and realism, prompt adherence, text and infographic layout accuracy, and character consistency.

Price is the clearest difference in Studio: Nano Banana 2.1 costs 14, 21 and 31 credits at 1K, 2K and 4K, against 33, 49 and 65 for Nano Banana 2. We have not published a quality benchmark between the two, so run the same prompt on both before you decide.

Google has announced that the Nano Banana 2 model in its own Gemini API shuts down on October 29, 2026 and recommends moving to 2.1. Nano Banana 2 is still in Studio's model list; how long it stays depends on our providers.

Choosing 1K, 2K or 4K

1K is the default and the cheapest at 14 credits. Use it to test a prompt, then regenerate the images worth keeping at 2K (21 credits) or 4K (31 credits).

Higher resolutions take longer to generate, so a 4K run is better saved for a final image than for exploring ideas.

What Studio Does Not Include Yet

Google Search grounding, which lets the model use live web information, is switched off in Studio, and results are delivered as JPG.

Aspect ratios are auto, 1:1, 3:2, 2:3, 3:4, 4:3, 4:5, 5:4, 9:16, 16:9 and 21:9. Auto follows the first reference image.
